Notre-Dame Secrets

Quick Answer

Open the Notre-Dame painting with Masterpiece and Brauner’s Paintbrush, then investigate musical patterns for the Giant Organ. Exact note sequences and secret-room totals remain unverified.

Notre-Dame's concrete investigation starts with the painting entrance and continues through musical patterns used on the Giant Organ in the Great Organ Room. Those are specific places to check when the cathedral route seems blocked. A complete list of secret rooms, collectible totals, and rewards is not established here.

Enter the painted Notre-Dame

Complete the Artist progression, which requires Smash, and obtain Brauner's Paintbrush through the Library and Occultist route. Return to the Gallery of Eternal Night in the Main Hall, equip the Masterpiece Arcana, and inspect the Notre-Dame painting. This opens the explorable area; seeing the cathedral in the skyline is not the same as entering it.

Investigate the Giant Organ

Inside Notre-Dame, find the musical patterns connected to the Giant Organ in the Great Organ Room. Use the patterns on that instrument to clear the pipes of Death's magic and open the onward route.

If the path remains blocked, return to the musical clues rather than repeatedly testing an unrelated wall or assuming you need a stronger weapon. An exact note sequence and the full set of clue locations are not confirmed here, so no guessed organ code is supplied. The route eventually leads to Death and the following Double Jump progression; the precise boss-room label is left unspecified.

Recognizing Notre-Dame and the castle approach

The cathedral is one of the major landmarks in the game's version of Paris. A view of Notre-Dame in the background does not, by itself, place Rose inside its explorable interior. Keep the current area's name and your map position in view when comparing a screenshot with your own route.

Rose runs beside a tower with Notre-Dame visible across the water

Notre-Dame is in the background, separate from Rose's current route.

The castle and the surrounding city form an interconnected world. Treat a recognizable skyline as orientation, rather than proof that a particular hidden chest sits directly beneath it. This matters when a guide image shows a distant building behind a bridge or a castle wall.

Making a useful return-trip checklist

The map supports markers, and area exploration percentages help identify unfinished sections. A practical search order is:

  1. Open the map and identify the part of the cathedral you have actually explored.
  2. Mark a blocked passage when you find it. Record whether the obstruction is height, a gap, a lever, or a suspicious wall.
  3. Revisit that marker after gaining an ability that plausibly addresses that particular obstacle.
  4. Explore the newly reachable room before moving to another marker.
  5. Check the area's percentage again to see whether the visit uncovered new map space.

A percentage is a way to narrow your search; it does not identify the missing reward for you. Likewise, a closed passage does not prove you need double jump. A different route, an environmental interaction, or another movement ability may be involved.

Reading clues before testing walls

Arcana clues can take the form of sketches and poems. Read the whole clue and compare its visual or descriptive details with the surrounding environment. Keep a specific landmark in mind instead of searching every cathedral room for the same object.

Destructible walls and hidden chambers exist in the game. Check a suspicious surface when its shape or placement suggests an opening, then record what you actually find. Do not assume that every unusual wall hides an upgrade, or that breaking scenery guarantees a collectible.

Current limits on the secret list

Exact Notre-Dame collectible totals, every hidden-room entrance, and a complete room-by-room solution are not established on this page. No named relic, weapon, or Arcana is assigned to a cathedral secret without a supported location. If you are looking for one particular item, use its own location entry rather than treating this general exploration checklist as a complete treasure map.

The later movement unlock is covered in How to Get Double Jump; Map Locations and Route Order helps place the cathedral within the wider route.
