The unlockable air dash is called Aerial Rush. Get it by defeating the Occultist, Carmilla, at the top of the Library in the Observatory. After that progression, press the dash input while Rose is airborne to propel her sideways.
Rose already has ground movement at the start. If a guide or player calls the starting slide a dash, that does not mean the airborne version is available. A gap that requires Aerial Rush cannot be crossed merely by pressing the ground-slide input earlier.
Find the correct Library destination
Once you reach Dracula's Castle, follow the available route into the Library. The Occultist is not an early Paris Streets boss. You are looking for the Observatory above the Planetarium.

The Occultist waits at the top of the Library.
The Library progression involves the globes and their surrounding star-pattern puzzle. Work through those interactions to open the upward route. You do not need to invent another movement unlock to solve the globe puzzle; pay attention to the clue found in the study.
This page does not provide a guessed star pattern. The confirmed destination and progression are enough to distinguish the puzzle you must solve from a gap intended for the reward you have not yet obtained.
Defeat the Occultist and finish the unlock sequence
- Reach the Planetarium in the Library.
- Solve the globe and star-pattern progression to open the route upward.
- Enter the Observatory and defeat Carmilla, the Occultist.
- Continue the following sequence until Aerial Rush is taught.
- Test the dash while airborne before starting a return trip.
The reward is associated with defeating that boss. Finding the Library alone does not grant it, and a visible route on the map does not establish that the Observatory path is already open.
Use Aerial Rush while airborne

Use the dash while Rose is in the air.
On the shown PlayStation controls, press Circle while Rose is in the air. The PC instructions shown in the movement material use Shift, with directional input to set the movement. If you remapped your controls, follow the action assigned to dash or slide rather than the printed default button.
The practical difference from a second jump is direction: Aerial Rush carries Rose horizontally. It is useful for gaps that are too wide for a normal jump and for narrow airborne passages. Double Jump is a separate later unlock that adds height.
Check the problem before repeating the jump
| What happens | What to check |
|---|---|
| Rose slides along the floor | You pressed the input while grounded rather than airborne |
| No air dash is available | Confirm that the Occultist progression and ability tutorial are complete |
| You reach the other side but hit a hazard | Reconsider the launch point and landing space |
| A high ledge remains out of reach | The obstacle may need height or another route, not only sideways movement |
| A golden-cracked floor blocks the path | That is a different ability requirement |
Do not assume that every failed crossing is a missing dash. Luminous anchors, wall-jump surfaces, and route entrances can point toward another solution already available to you.
Plan the first return trip
Aerial Rush opens more of the gaps you previously marked. Review those notes and group nearby destinations rather than crossing several regions for one uncertain ledge. Test a familiar short crossing before attempting a long platforming room over hazards.
The dash also changes how quickly you can reposition, but this guide does not claim fixed invulnerability frames, dash distance, unlimited aerial uses, or a damage bonus. Those properties are not established by the supplied movement descriptions. Use the ability for the gaps and movement situations it explicitly teaches.
The encounter details in Carmilla Boss Guide support this unlock route; Map Locations and Route Order places the Library in the wider progression.
