Hall of Mirrors: Free the Sage

Quick Answer

Defeat the Temptress, break the Sage's seals in Paris Street, Main Hall, Clock Tower and Notre-Dame, then find Eleanor in Holy Innocents' Cemetery for Mirror Walk.

To finish the Hall of Mirrors quest, defeat The Temptress, break the Sage's four seals in Paris Street, Main Hall, Clock Tower and Notre-Dame, then follow Eleanor's trail to Holy Innocents' Cemetery. Her final meeting awards Mirror Walk. Simply entering a mirror hub or using a Mirror of Life for travel does not complete this rescue.

The route below follows Nahda Nabiilah's Sage walkthrough, which identifies the sealed mirrors and the final cemetery location. It contains spoilers for the Hall of Mirrors and Eleanor's quest.

Separate the rescue from ordinary mirror travel

A Mirror of Life can serve a different purpose from a sealed quest mirror. The everyday travel system lets you move through the mirrors associated with places you have already discovered. The Sage's task asks you to remove specific seals, clear their encounters and find her afterward.

If you only need a nearer checkpoint or another discovered destination, use the Mirror of Life locations guide. If you are standing at a mirror engraved with the Sage's seal, continue with the rescue steps here: that mirror does not behave like an ordinary selectable travel destination.

The A Sketch From Talos clue points toward the seals. Treat it as a lead for the rescue rather than expecting ordinary mirror travel to free the woman automatically.

Clear the fog by finding the Temptress

The Temptress is southeast of the Hall of Mirrors Ferryman's Wharf. From the wharf, drop down on the right and work toward that encounter. Defeating her clears the region's fog and is the first objective in the Sage route.

The mirrors help you navigate while the way forward is unclear. Check the reflection before kneeling:

ReflectionWhat to do
Blue RoseKneel to reveal guidance toward the route forward.
Red RoseAvoid treating it as a safe route hint: kneeling causes an attack by Rose's own reflection.
Normal RoseUse it as a way back when lost, rather than as proof that another seal has been cleared.

Keep the fog-clearing objective separate from the rescue's final reward. Winning against the Temptress gets this route moving; Eleanor's Mirror Walk comes from meeting her later in the cemetery.

Break the four engraved mirror seals

The four targets belong to different regions. Use a nearby ordinary travel destination or a wharf to approach a sealed mirror; the engraved mirror itself is not a normal fast-travel destination.

At the Paris Street mirror, bow to enter the Hall of Mirrors, break the seal above the mirror, then defeat the waves of enemies before leaving. Repeat that seal-clearing procedure at the other three engraved mirrors. Reaching a mirror without finishing its encounter is not the same task as clearing the seal.

Start at the Prison Tower mirror

In Paris Street, find the middle Mirror of Life in the Prison Tower. Check for the engraved Sage seal before bowing. Inside, the seal is above the mirror; destroy it and clear the enemy waves.

If travel does not offer that exact mirror as a destination, choose a nearby accessible mirror and approach on foot. That behavior is part of identifying a sealed quest mirror, not evidence that your entire travel system is unavailable.

Reach the Main Hall Archive

For the Main Hall seal, follow this route from the Ferryman's Wharf:

  1. Move northeast from the wharf and climb to the upper floor.
  2. At the statue, take the upper eastern route.
  3. Enter the dimensional door leading to Servant's Hall.
  4. Continue northwest toward the Archive Mirror of Life.
  5. Bow at the engraved mirror and finish its seal encounter.

This is the Archive branch of the rescue. For broader castle navigation, use the Main Hall guide; you do not need to repeat unrelated branches just because several routes share the same region name.

Return to Mechanic's Ascent with the needed movement

The Clock Tower's engraved mirror is in Mechanic's Ascent, on the region's left side. The route uses Arcana Whip, Holy Light, Aerial Rush and Smash. If you cannot yet cross its obstacles, check your available abilities before searching for another seal in the same room.

The Aerial Rush unlock guide covers that movement ability. This quest does not replace its unlock conditions, and a marked destination is not proof that your current save can already reach it.

In Notre-Dame, locate the East Gallery Mirror of Life carrying Eleanor's seal. Enter and complete the same seal-breaking process. If the cathedral entrance is still closed, resolve the Notre-Dame entrance requirements first; the gallery is a destination inside that progression, not an alternate way through the closed painting.

Follow Eleanor after the last seal

Once all four seals are broken, return to the Main Hall Mirror Rooms. This stage unlocks the Hall of Mirrors as a travel destination. Then check the southeastern Main Hall Mirror of Life for the Sage's final clue.

Her absence there does not mean the rescue failed. The clue explains that she freed herself after the seal was broken and directs the search toward Holy Innocents' Cemetery.

Travel to the cemetery and head to its western Mausoleum of the Queens. Continue to the Tomb of the Noble Queen to meet the Sage again and receive Mirror Walk.

If you are retracing the quest, match your next action to the last thing you completed: clearing the Temptress removes the fog, clearing all four seals advances the rescue, and the cemetery meeting delivers Eleanor's Arcana. Repeatedly using an ordinary checkpoint mirror cannot substitute for one of those steps.
